Common questions
Can a foreigner own a company in Sharm El Sheikh?
Yes, with conditions. Since 1 April 2022, Presidential Decree 128/2022 requires a non-Egyptian investment project in Sharm El Sheikh to be an Egyptian joint-stock company. The decree sets no minimum Egyptian share, but changes of founders or shareholdings need security approvals plus GAFI or FRA approval, and land stays Egyptian-owned. Ask us how this applies to your activity.
How long does company formation take?
GAFI states one working day for a one-person company or JSC filed in person at its service centres; that route does not cover LLCs. In practice, expect one to two weeks once your documents are ready. Foreign founders and managers also file security-inquiry forms, and in Sharm, later share changes need security approvals on top.
Are you an English-speaking accountant in Sharm, and do you work in Italian and Russian?
