10FAQ
Accounting and bookkeeping in Egypt: questions
Does every business in Egypt need to keep books?
From tax period 2028, yes. As of October 2026, Law 150/2026 requires every business to keep regular books and abolishes the old EGP 500,000 threshold. Law 151/2026 repealed Article 18 of the Income Tax Law, so estimated assessment covers tax periods up to 2027 only. Shops, cafés and sole traders are covered in the same way as companies.
What does a monthly bookkeeping package include?
Recording sales and costs from your e-invoices, e-receipts and bank statements; reconciling bank and cash; the VAT return; payroll, social insurance and universal health insurance; withholding tax; and a monthly report. At the year-end we prepare audit-ready statements and the figures for your tax return. Companies with foreign owners add their GAFI reports.
Can you keep my books if I live abroad?
Yes. Documents reach us by WhatsApp or email, we work from read access to your e-invoice account, e-receipts and bank statements, and month-end reviews happen on a video call. We explain the figures in Arabic, English, Italian or Russian and reply the same day during office hours, 09:00 to 23:00 every day.
Do I still need books under the simplified tax regime?
Yes. Law 6/2025 taxes turnover at 0.4% to 1.5%, so every sale must be on an e-invoice or e-receipt and agree with the bank, and Minister of Finance Decision 420/2025 sets the simplified records members keep. If you ever leave the regime, profit-based tax needs full books, so we keep yours to that standard.
How much do accounting services cost in Egypt?
We do not publish fixed prices, because the work depends on your business. The fee is set by the number of transactions, the staff on the payroll, your VAT status, your POS and systems, your entity type and any backlog. Send us those details on WhatsApp and we reply with a package quote for your business.
